Drachenburg Bonn

Along the Rhine are many castles and one famous one is the Drachenburg. It is a private castle that was built in the late 19th century on the famous Drachenfels above Koenigswinter, a town near the German city Bonn (former capital) at the Rhine.
The castle was built only in 2 years and the owner Baron Stephan von Sarter, a broker and banker, never had the pleasure to live there as he died at early age.

Today the castle is in the possession of the State Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is served by an intermediate station on the Drachenfels Railway.
